About the book
The science fiction novel Beg med zvezde describes the first journey into an unknown solar system, to a planet in the constellation Lalande where ruins of a declined civilization are discovered. The story presents the question: will our civilization fall to ruins as well? At the end of this decade, an alien spaceship near Earth that is sending messages in English is detected. It appears that the spaceship has flown from the constellation Lalande in 2111. It came from the future. Earth's intercepting rockets discover that the spaceship is carrying 12 dead bodies. An analysis of the ship's records reveals that the automatic station Hermes had found ruins of a highly developed, but extinct civilization on Lalande's planet E. Therefore, a journey to Lalande is organized by NASA and ESA with a ship called Argo. The astronauts, who have named themselves after the ancient Greek gods, are mostly scientists from various fields. They write personal diaries in which they describe the reasons for deciding to leave Earth, memories of their past, as well as hopes and wishes for the future on the Lalande's planet.
