From the past to the future with the Kos and Zalokar families. Potovanje skozi čas is a book consisting of many parts. The first concentrates on the life and work of Dr. Alojz Zalokar who was the director of the women’s hospital, and the leading obstetrician and gynecologist in the Slovenian region between both wars. The book contains parts of his texts from the social-medical and national fields. Next are genealogical information about three doctors and surgeons, Dr. Alojz Zalokar’s ancestors: his grandfather Franc, father Ludvik and uncle Ferdinand. Their time and genealogical connections that link the Zalokar family to the Ipavec lineage, a family of musicians and doctors from Šentjur, are presented picturesquely. The chapter about Dr. Ana Zalokar, born Kos, takes us into her work and family as well. In addition, the book focuses on researching the origins and the frequency of use of the last name Kos. The last chapter concentrates on the wife’s grand-grandfather of Polish descent Ivan Kos Biernatzki who was a writer, poet and a pastor in Germany.
