About the book
A chronicle of death accidents in the Slovenian mountains. This books is dedicated to the memory of all the deceased and those who helped them, but it also tries to be a quiet warning to the living. After the long gathering of material, it was arranged by the doctor, alpinist and mountain rescuer France Malešič. The book consists of 1965 descriptions of accidents (and 3188 people involved in them) from the 14th century until today in Slovenia and of accidents of Slovenians in foreign mountains. Furthermore, it includes 111 accidents that did not end the most tragically. It contains 129 black and white personal photographs of the victims and 84 photos of rescue missions and rescuers. The chronicle is dedicated to everyone who used to climb mountains and is not with us anymore, but also to others who enthusiastically follow them. Every victim talks to us with their story. The content is arranged by numerous sources and with the help of more than a hundred associates, it is educational and has a cultural and historical meaning. It is by no means written to prevent mountaineers and other readers from going to the mountains. Each accident description includes the date and time, basic information about the victims and where and how it happened, as well as the information sources. The main sources are listed in the back of the book as well where you can also find a short review of the information and a name index.
