About the book
The famous Slovenian pilot, alpinist and photographer Matevž Lenarčič flew over the northern hemisphere in an ultralight plane in eighty days. On his exciting journey that took him over Russia, Siberia, Canada, Greenland, Iceland and back home, he gets a taste of the primeval connection with the beautiful landscape, meets the natives and meditates on freedom and people’s responsibilities toward Earth. Sometimes we need the magic of the forests, lakes, mountain peaks and foreign culture to be able to feel the connection with the real self. The travelogue Okrog edinega sveta is an account of the author’s extreme adventure that is at the same time a journey into himself. Matevž Lenarčič is a world traveler and a big nature lover. He has conquered the peaks Cerro Torre and Fitz Roy in Patagonia and Broad Peak in the Himalayas. In the travelogue he writes: “I believe in myself, in my psychic strength, I believe I can get out of any no-way-out situation and, most importantly, I know that there are always unknown amounts of energy and mental capabilities hidden in a human being, activated only when life is at stake.” In addition to this travelogue in which the author describes the adventures and misadventures of his heroic act, you can admire the breath-taking photographs from the flight in the photomonograp Okrog edinega sveta with comments in Slovene or English.
