About the book

The author has attended the twenty-one Himalayan expeditions. In the book, far from mitological view of heroic mountaineering, there is an example of mountaineering realism. A skilful and artistic way of writing is a nice illustration of the attractiveness and the Himalayan brutality and great successes, devotion and asketics. Almost a quarter of performers in the book has crossed the fatal line of life and death, some of them on a large Kanch, "mountain, which doesn't return its victims," as says the author.
