About the book

Birds and ecological gardening. The book titled Zaživimo z naravo! deals with ornithology in a popular science style. It contains the following subjects: the relationship toward birds and nature, birds as an educational element, ecological gardening, the meaning of high stem orchards, the water garden. The book describes 50 bird species that you can come across near your home, ways of bird feeding, bird watering places, bird nesting boxes. Birds are what the author concentrates on mostly, but he deals with other animals as well. The book’s great advantage is that the author is an expert in the Slovenian environment and thus knows it to bits and pieces. This fact is also the main advantage in relation to other, translated books in the same field. It focuses on this specific (Slovenian) environment that the readers and users of the book live in. Moreover, the author is familiar with the Slovenian way of gardening and living with nature. The book is rich with author’s sketches and photographs from our environment.
