About the book

Preizkušnje, Miro Štebe's autobiography, is generally a mountaineering book, but it is more than merely a book for mountain lovers. We keep learning about the author's shocking life with every page we turn and the reader is not spared the hardest trials. Although he describes his serious fall in the mountains, his loss of hearing on the expedition to the arctic sites and the loss of his five year old son on a Sunday trip to Martuljek, the author does not want to emphasize the tragic notes of fate, but to show us a way how to survive the most difficult periods of life that no one is prepared for but almost every one experiences. The optimistic tone of the book is created by the enthusiastic descriptions of nature, climbing, mountain expeditions and a deep contemplation about life and fate.
