For more than 35 years, Didakta has been publishing books that inform, inspire and entertain readers of all generations.
Didakta is an independent Slovenian publishing house based in Radovljica. Our publishing programme covers a wide range of subjects and genres, including children’s picture books, books for parents, encyclopaedias for young readers, educational and professional literature in the fields of education, medicine, economics and other areas, travel writing, fiction, photography and works of cultural and historical significance.
Over the years, we have published works by many distinguished Slovenian authors and personalities, as well as internationally renowned authors. Our programme also includes works by Nobel Prize laureates and important collections preserving Slovenia’s literary and cultural heritage.
Education has been an important part of Didakta since its beginnings. For 35 years, we have organised professional seminars for teachers and headteachers of primary schools.
We also publish Didakta, a professional magazine for teachers, educators and parents, covering both theoretical and practical developments in education.
Mountaineering literature also holds an important place in Didakta’s publishing programme. Over the years, we have published numerous books on mountaineering, climbing, expeditions and the Himalayas, including works by some of Slovenia’s best-known mountaineers.
Among them is Viki Grošelj, one of Slovenia’s most accomplished Himalayan climbers, a summiteer of 10 of the world’s 14 eight-thousanders and the author of numerous books on mountaineering and Himalayan expeditions, including Everest: Dreams and Reality, published by Didakta.
Didakta’s owner and publisher, Rudi Zaman, is also an author and co-author of several books, including Popular Climbing Routes in Slovenia (Slovenske stene).
This long-standing connection with mountaineering and Himalayan literature provides a natural background for our new international publishing project: the English edition of Dina Štěrbová’s Desire and Destiny – The First Women on the Eight-Thousanders.
